Walk in Her Shoes: Just Getting Started

A little while ago I posted that I had signed up for Care International's 'Walk in Her Shoes' Campaign. You can find out about the campaign here. When I read the statistic that 70% of the world's poorest billion people are women and girls I knew I wanted to do something to make their lives a little easier.

My part to play in this involves walking 10,000 steps a day for a week, to get just a little taste of what it might involve to gain access to drinking water in a developing country. I have no idea what 10,000 steps looks like as this is my first day - my pedometer currently says 784 steps so I have a little way to go! I wish I'd gone out in the sunshine this morning!

I realised pretty quickly that whilst I thought the cause was well worth donating to, I didn't want to ask people to sponsor me to walk. So the way I decided to do it was this, every wedding booked before the end of March would qualify for a 10% discount (making it worth your while) and a further 5% would go to the campaign.

That offer is still running, though there are only a couple of weeks left! Please feel free to get in touch if you're interested.

So I'm off for a walk now! I'll keep you updated on my facebook page on how I'm getting on etc.

If you'd like to donate to Care International despite the fact that my walking isn't very impressive, you can find my just giving page here: http://www.justgiving.com/rachtweeddale

Don't worry about the lack of donations, as I said, I'm doing things a little differently and I'll make a lump sum donation at the end of the month. :)

Hope you're all staying warm! Much love, Rach x
